- WOODY PLANTS
include perennial trees and shrubs whose hardened stems persist
year-around.
- WILDFLOWERS
include non-woody perennial and annual species of native flowering
plants.
- HERBACEOUS
species include perennials and annuals with non-persisting stems
and/or foliage.
- ADVENTITIOUS
species include those introduced to this region from other regions
of North America or from other continents, that have a
demonstrated ability to re-seed themselves and persist for one or
more generations in our region, on disturbed ground. They are
offered here as a service to herb growers and ornamental
horticulturists; not generally suitable for native landscape
use.

(Hitchcock and Cronquist, David Giblin, ed.), and/or the 1999 edition
of Hortus
West (Western
No. America Native Plant Directory & Journal); common names are in mostly from Flora
of the Olympic Peninsula (Nelsa Buckingham et al, 1996).
